As we head into the second month of self-quarantining, social distancing, unemployment numbers at an all-time high, etc. its time for a little good news! As outlined in our last Update, the God’s Resources Board of Directors made the very difficult decision to continue to operate in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was the right decision because many of our community resources are either closed or stretched to capacity. It is during this stressful time that the women and men of our community need our services more than ever. Not just the women and men who are facing an unplanned pregnancy during this time of crisis, but many of the parenting women as well. These parenting women need Proof of Pregnancy Documentation to apply for pregnancy Medicaid insurance so they can begin to receive the medical care they need for a healthy pregnancy. They can’t see a doctor without this insurance. Because Solutions Mobile Unit is operating in faith and under the Lords’ covering, 8 lives have been saved since March 1st! These moms were choosing to abort their babies because they felt they had no help or hope with a pandemic weighing heavily on their hearts. Because God’s Resources was there for them, they were able to see their baby in the womb, hear their child’s heartbeat and choose life. We have seen 42 clients operating on a 3 day per week schedule since March 1st. We have provided them with the important resources they need to thrive during a time of fear.
We want to acknowledge and thank our friends and partners at Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies of Palm Beach County. What a blessing this community organization is as they assist our clients with applying for Medicaid, Food Stamps, counseling and so many other free services to lift up and support the women and babies of our communities. May God continue to bless them!
Update: CARES Act
Did you know the new CARES Act makes a new tax deduction available for up to $300 per taxpayer ($600 for a married couple) in annual contributions to qualified charities? This is available only to people who take the standard deduction (for taxpayers who do not itemize their deductions). It is an “above the line” adjustment to income that will reduce a donor’s adjusted gross income (AGI), and thereby reduce taxable income. Also, as part of the bill, individuals that itemize can deduct donations up to 100% of their 2020 AGI (up from 60% previously).
As we all walk through these challenging times together, we trust that we will all come out of this stronger, more resilient and thankful to God for the blessings that He provided in the midst of this. Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13
